PETRONAS Education Sponsorship 2013

PETRONAS Education Sponsorship 2013 offers academic scholarship to deserving Malaysian students to pursue their higher education in oil and gas related disciplines at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS and other universities abroad.

Applications are invited from qualified candidates who have excellent academic background as well as proven leadership qualities through active participation in extra-curricular activities, social and volunteerism.

This PETRONAS scholarship is applicable for Bachelor of Science (Honours) level in these following courses:

  • Mechanical Engineering;
  • Petroleum Engineering;
  • Petroleum Geoscience;

  • Geology;
  • Geophysics;
  • Polymer science.

General Eligibility Requirements:
[Show] Foundation / Pre-U [Hide] Foundation / Pre-U
  • Foundation (UTP) - minimum CGPA 2.70;
  • American Credit Transfer Programme (ACTP) - at least CGPA 3.00;
  • American Degree Foundation Programme (ADFP) - minimum CGPA 3.50;
  • A Level - at least 2As and 1B (for those who took 3 subjects) or 1A 2Bs 1C (took 4 subjects);
  • Australian Matriculation Programme (AUSMAT) - at least ATAR 85%;
  • South Australian Matriculation (SAM) - minimum ATAR 85%;
  • Canadian Pre-University (CPU) - minimum 85%;
  • Canadian International Matriculation Programme (CIMP) - at least 85%;
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) - minimum 35 points.

  • Minimum CGPA 3.30;
  • Malaysian University English Test (MUET) - minimum Band 3.

Specific Eligibility Requirements:

  • Technical and Applied Science: Achieve at least B in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in UTP Foundation Programme / Pre-University as above; 
  • Non-Technical: Minimum B in Mathematics and any two related subjects (e.g: Additional Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, etc.) in UTP Foundation Programme / Pre-University as above.

[Show] Diploma / Matriculation [Hide] Diploma / Matriculation
  • Technical and Applied Science: Diploma in engineering-related programs;
  • Non-Technical: Diploma in related programs.

[Show] STPM [Hide] STPM
  • Technical and Applied Science: Pass STPM - at least 3 Principal B in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • Non-Technical: Pass STPM - at least 3 Principal B in any of three related subjects (e.g: Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, etc.).


Eligibility Criteria:
  • Applicant must be a Malaysian citizen;
  • Applicant must be aged below 25 years old in 2013;
  • Have leadership qualities and active in extra-curricular activities;
  • Applicant must not currently receiving educational sponsorship from other sponsors;
  • Applicant must have secured a place to study for a Bachelor's Degree either at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Public Higher Education Institutions (IPTA) or foreign universities in programs offered by the the Company.
